WHAT LED YOU TO WORK FOR BLACKLIDGE?
A recruiter contacted me on behalf of the Blacklidge family. While I was perfectly happy with my job at the time, there was an opportunity for me to make an impact that would change the trajectory of Blacklidge—and that was a challenge that excited me! Before Blacklidge, I spent almost 20 years at Merchants Foodservice and International Paper in a variety of financial executive roles.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT AT BLACKLIDGE?
I’m really proud of the progress we’ve made reinvesting in our employees. Since I started, we’ve expanded our benefits package and have created opportunities for current and future employees to grow within the company. We have virtually no turnover now.
WHAT DO YOU SEE FOR THE FUTURE OF THE COMPANY?
Strategically, we’re trying to get the job done as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. That means continuing to be forward thinking and innovative with our business practices and product offering.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WORKING AT BLACKLIDGE?
Our crazy people! I love the company culture. Since it’s a family business, we don’t have to fit into a corporate mold. We can be different and shape the company into one we’re all proud of. Simply said, we can build the company we want to work for.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?
Well, lots of things! I like to ski, play tennis and watch college football. (Go Bulldogs!) I’m very passionate about our Make-A-Wish Foundation; I sit on the board and served as chair last year. I’m also very involved in my church; I serve as a deacon and treasurer. Beyond these commitments, my life revolves around my lovely wife of 18 years and our daughter.
